Hunter Johnson and Taylor Mason have several things in common.
The friends both have small businesses that they want to expand and diversify.
And they’re both going to fulfill their dreams in an often-overlooked building in the northwest section of Lancaster city.
Johnson, owner of Tono Group, the parent company of Tono Architects, and an investor have bought 436 W. James St.
The building is being enlarged and extensively renovated so this spring it can house the Tono Group plus two new ventures by Mason, a restaurateur.
Mason, who opened Ma(i)son with his wife Leeann in 2011, will launch a second and much larger restaurant there named Luca on James as well as a catering business.
“We’re ready to spread our wings,” said Mason, though he and his wife will continue to operate Ma(i)son on North Prince Street.
